have you forgotten to wonder?
rub your eyes, and take it in:
these buildings are not painted onto walls
they are not set dressing,
and they are not the paper mache diarama of your life
friend,
leave this place.
take it from me,
put on your boots
and leave your scarf untucked
and
roam
these streets!
go to the places you have no use for
find the shops you'll never buy from
look at the river, the sky, the birds
not because it is a to-do
not because it is a new "practice"
but because you are alive,
and you have every right to breathe!
wander, friend
not knowing where you will go,
but that you will delight upon the way
and smile at the people you'll find there
and when the sun has set,
and you return back to your view,
you will know where you were,
and you will know where you are now.
