President Carter, Clinton, Bush, Obama
are now joined in an effort
to determine the course of America,
and will face challenges
but get the job done.
these steps carry out the
power, and we are grateful to you
because today we,
a small group in our nation’s capital,
have borne the cost.
Washington did not share in its wealth,
but protected itself
while they celebrated,
there was little for you.
everyone watching, all across America
your day, your country
our government,
controlled by the forgotten,
a righteous public,
a different reality
trapped in
our unrealized potential.
